Job Description
Role Overview
This position leads process assurance at Haleon's Nairobi site, making sure every manufacturing process is qualified from the start and remains in a qualified, controlled state throughout its lifecycle. You will safeguard product integrity by combining technical risk assessments, process validation, and packaging development with hands-on oversight of day-to-day production. Your work directly supports the site's ability to deliver medicines and consumer health products that meet internal quality standards and regulatory expectations from the moment of manufacture through the end of shelf life.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead product development technology and technical transfer projects for the value stream, including innovation launches and changes to existing product sources.
- Own New Product Introduction and supplier/source changes by coordinating technical risk assessments, packaging development, process validation, and technical transfers to minimise quality and technical exposure.
- Drive product lifecycle management and validation workstreams that support the value stream's ongoing improvement and compliance.
- Manage all packaging material and artwork changes that could affect site value streams, making sure they are assessed and implemented safely.
- Direct process robustness studies that map critical process parameters to critical quality attributes, strengthening the capability of site-manufactured products.
- Lead the site change management process, ensuring any modification with potential product quality impact is reviewed thoroughly before coming into effect.
- Develop validation protocols and execute qualification activities, including operational and performance qualification, cleaning validation, and process validation, to keep systems in a compliant state.
- Identify and deliver value engineering initiatives across the value stream to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality, safety, or compliance.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Process Engineering.
- Minimum three years of experience in a similar process assurance, validation, or technical quality role within a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of GMP, site SOPs, EHS standards, QMS guidelines, and relevant legal requirements as they apply to pharmaceutical or consumer healthcare manufacturing.
- An innovative and creative approach to problem-solving, with the ability to challenge existing practices and recommend practical improvements.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to coordinate cross-functional contributions from multiple teams on site.
- Ability to make sound decisions that protect business continuity while maintaining integrity and compliance during process improvement initiatives.
- Skilled at influencing and supporting team members through open, constructive consultation and by using facts to drive decisions.
- Competence in drawing and designing packaging components, with an understanding of how packaging design affects product quality and production capability.
