Procurement Officer
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
The Procurement Officer will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services required for production operations. The role involves supplier evaluation, negotiation, contract management, and ensuring compliance with company policies and UAE procurement regulations. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, cost-conscious, and able to maintain strong vendor relationships.
Key Responsibilities
1. Purchasing & Sourcing
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, pricing, and delivery performance. Issue RFQs, analyse quotations, and negotiate contracts to secure competitive prices. Place purchase orders and track their status to ensure timely delivery. Source alternative suppliers to mitigate risks and avoid supply disruptions.
2. Supplier Relationship Management
- Maintain strong and professional relationships with local and international vendors. Conduct supplier performance reviews and follow up on non-compliance or delivery issues. Attend supplier meetings, factory visits, and audits when required.
3. Materials & Inventory Support
- Coordinate with inventory, warehouse, and production teams to ensure material availability. Track stock levels and reorder points to avoid shortages or overstocking. Verify material specifications, quality standards, and technical requirements.
4. Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure all procurement documentation is accurate and aligned with organizational standards. Maintain updated records of suppliers, purchase orders, contracts, and quotations. Ensure compliance with UAE customs and procurement laws, as well as internal policies. Prepare reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.
5. Cost Management & Optimization
- Identify cost-saving opportunities across the procurement cycle. Monitor market trends, pricing changes, and currency fluctuations. Support budget planning by providing accurate cost estimates and forecasts.
6. Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with production, finance, warehouse, and logistics teams. Resolve supply issues promptly to avoid production downtime. Communicate updated delivery schedules and procurement status to stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.2. 3–5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.3. Strong knowledge of UAE procurement practices and supplier markets.4. ERP system experience (Epicor, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).5. Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.6. Knowledge of materials, technical specifications, and vendor evaluation processes.
