Role Overview
This role is central to building and expanding the Private Wealth practice across Kenya and the broader East African region. You will take charge of the full business development cycle, from identifying promising entrepreneurs and affluent families to converting their complex needs into long-term, revenue-generating mandates. Your work directly shapes how the firm positions itself as a trusted advisor in the region's private wealth ecosystem, connecting tax, legal, immigration, and advisory expertise to deliver integrated solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the execution of the Private Wealth growth strategy, adapting it to the realities of the Kenyan and East African markets.
- Design and implement a repeatable business development model that supports sustainable expansion of the private client practice.
- Proactively identify and pursue new client segments, referral sources, partnerships, and market opportunities that align with the firm's wealth management ambitions.
- Build and nurture relationships with founders, entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals, and multi-generational family businesses.
- Manage a robust pipeline of private wealth prospects and take full ownership of the journey from initial outreach to closed mandates.
- Lead in-depth client conversations covering personal, family, business, investment, succession, and cross-border concerns to uncover real needs.
- Collaborate closely with internal tax, legal, immigration, and advisory specialists to craft integrated, cross-disciplinary solutions for private clients.
- Transform identified client needs into commercially viable engagements, actively driving revenue growth and profitability.
- Elevate the firm's visibility in the private wealth space through targeted networking, thought leadership, events, and strategic alliances.
- Monitor business development activity, pipeline health, conversion rates, and revenue outcomes against clearly defined targets.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Law, Accounting, Investment Management, or a closely related discipline.
- Substantial professional track record in private wealth, wealth management, private banking, family office advisory, investment advisory, tax, legal, or other professional services environments.
- Active membership in a relevant professional body, with a record of maintaining good standing.
- Strong commercial instincts and a demonstrable history of originating and closing business opportunities.
- Deep understanding of the financial, business, and wealth-planning concerns that matter most to private clients and families.
- Proven ability to turn relationships into tangible revenue, with a results-oriented approach to business development.
- Superior communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
- Self-directed working style, comfortable taking initiative and owning outcomes in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving culture.
- Solid knowledge of global markets, investment products, and regulatory frameworks relevant to private wealth.
