Job Description

Role Overview

This position is responsible for delivering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate instruction within a specific academic specialization, while actively contributing to the university's research output and scholarly community. The role balances teaching, student mentorship, and research with institutional service, helping to maintain academic standards and cultivate a vibrant learning environment. Work is conducted across lecture halls, seminar rooms, and research settings, with a clear expectation that the lecturer will support the university's mission through professional engagement and continuous academic development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver lectures, tutorials, and seminars for undergraduate and, where applicable, postgraduate courses within the designated area of specialization.
  • Prepare course syllabi, reading lists, assignments, and examination materials that align with university standards and current disciplinary developments.
  • Assess and grade student work, provide constructive academic feedback, and maintain accurate records of student performance.
  • Supervise student research projects, theses, and dissertations, as well as provide academic advising and career guidance to mentees.
  • Conduct original research in the relevant field, publish findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals and other scholarly outlets, and attend academic conferences.
  • Participate in departmental activities, including curriculum development, committee work, quality assurance initiatives, and other institutional tasks as assigned.
  • Collaborate with professional and industry partners to enhance the practical relevance of teaching and research, where appropriate to the specialization.
  • Undertake continuous professional development and engagement with relevant academic and professional bodies to remain current in the field.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in the relevant area of specialization from an accredited and recognized university, ideally complemented by a PhD, which will be considered a strong advantage.
  • Proven teaching experience at university level, with a demonstrated ability to effectively deliver course content, assess learners, and support student success.
  • Where applicable, solid professional and/or industry experience that enriches classroom instruction and connects academic theory to practical application.
  • Evidence of scholarly engagement, including peer-reviewed publications, research activity, conference presentations, or professional contributions relevant to the field of specialization.
  • Compliance with the requirements of the Commission for University Education (CUE) and any other regulatory or professional bodies governing university teaching in the region.
  • Current registration with, or membership in, the relevant professional or regulatory body, if applicable to the discipline.
