Role Overview
This is a university teaching and research position for an academic with deep expertise in a specific discipline. On a daily basis, you will deliver lectures and seminars, guide student projects and dissertations, and pursue an active research agenda that feeds into your teaching. Your work directly supports the institution’s mission to offer high-quality, professionally relevant education and to contribute new knowledge through scholarship and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate lectures, seminars, and practical sessions in your area of specialisation, using a range of teaching methods to support diverse learning needs.
- Design and administer assessments, mark examinations and assignments, and provide constructive feedback to help students meet academic standards.
- Supervise postgraduate students’ research projects, theses, and dissertations, offering methodological and subject-specific guidance throughout their studies.
- Develop and maintain an active research portfolio, including publishing in peer-reviewed journals, presenting at conferences, and securing research funding where possible.
- Participate in curriculum development and programme review, ensuring courses reflect current disciplinary developments and industry expectations.
- Engage in departmental and faculty committees, contributing to academic governance, quality assurance, and student support initiatives.
- Maintain strong links with professional and regulatory bodies, ensuring that programme delivery aligns with accreditation and professional standards.
- Undertake administrative duties related to teaching and research, including timetabling, student records, and resource planning, as assigned by the department.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in the relevant area of specialisation from a recognised university is required.
- A PhD in the relevant area of specialisation is considered an added advantage and may be preferred for senior or research-intensive roles.
- Demonstrated teaching experience at university level is essential, with a proven ability to deliver engaging and academically rigorous instruction.
- Relevant professional and/or industry experience related to the area of specialisation is required where applicable to the discipline.
- Evidence of scholarly activity, research output, or substantive professional engagement in the field is required.
- Applicants must meet the minimum academic requirements set by the Commission for University Education (CUE) and any other relevant regulatory or professional bodies.
- Where applicable, applicants must hold current registration or membership with the relevant professional or regulatory body for their discipline.
