Role Overview

This hands-on orthopedic plaster technology and trauma care role focuses on restoring alignment, easing pain, and supporting recovery for patients with fractures, dislocations, and other musculoskeletal injuries. The post holder works across emergency, ward, and outpatient settings, using casting, traction, reduction, and wound-care skills to help patients regain function. The position is central to delivering timely orthopedic trauma services and maintaining continuity of care from first presentation through follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret radiology images for orthopedic and trauma cases to guide clinical decisions and treatment plans.
• Manipulate and reduce fractures and dislocations, applying appropriate immobilization and support techniques.
• Apply, adjust, and remove casts, bandages, splints, and traction equipment while monitoring skin condition, circulation, and patient comfort.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on orthopedic trauma conditions, cast care, recovery, and follow-up requirements.
• Deliver corrective management for congenital talipes equinovarus (CTEV) through casting and related orthopedic techniques.
• Assess patients with musculoskeletal conditions, provide initial care, and refer them appropriately when further specialist input is needed.
• Participate in emergency and accident response for minor orthopedic and trauma cases, including cleaning and treating simple orthopedic wounds.
• Document orthopedic and trauma cases accurately and conduct follow-up reviews in wards and outpatient clinics.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma in Orthopedic Plaster Technology or Diploma in Orthopedic and Trauma Medicine from a recognized institution.
• Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
• Registration with the relevant professional body.
• Valid practicing license.
• Practical ability to perform plaster, casting, traction, fracture reduction, and orthopedic trauma procedures safely and effectively.
• Comfort using computer systems for clinical documentation and routine administrative tasks.
