Job Description
Role Overview
This role manages human remains and cadavers for use in an anatomy or mortuary laboratory, ensuring each is handled respectfully, safely and in accordance with legal requirements. The postholder also helps keep the laboratory clean, specimens properly maintained, and storage and waste processes aligned with safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the lawful sourcing, receipt and transportation of cadavers.
- Preserve and manage human remains in a safe and dignified manner.
- Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation for cadavers and specimens.
- Assist with laboratory cleaning and disinfection.
- Monitor specimen condition and support appropriate ongoing maintenance.
- Manage laboratory waste in accordance with relevant safety requirements.
- Organise storage and follow established laboratory safety procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certificate in Mortuary Science, Mortuary Technology, Funeral Services, Anatomy Laboratory Technology or a related field.
- At least two years of experience working in a mortuary or anatomy laboratory.
- Current licensing by the Kenya Health Professions Oversight Authority (KHPOA).
- Membership of the Morticians and Allied Practitioners of Kenya (MAPAKe).
