Job Description
Role Overview
This role manages the careful, lawful handling of human remains and cadavers for mortuary and anatomy laboratory use. It also supports safe laboratory operations through specimen upkeep, cleaning, secure storage, accurate records and responsible waste handling.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the lawful sourcing, receipt and transportation of cadavers, maintaining appropriate care and dignity throughout.
- Preserve and manage cadavers and other specimens in line with applicable legal and laboratory procedures.
- Keep complete documentation of human remains and specimens, including relevant handling and storage records.
- Clean and disinfect laboratory areas, equipment and work surfaces.
- Monitor specimen storage and maintain orderly, suitable storage arrangements.
- Handle laboratory waste appropriately and support safe disposal practices.
- Follow established laboratory safety procedures while carrying out daily duties.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma in Mortuary Science, Mortuary Technology, Funeral Services, Anatomy Laboratory Technology or a related field.
- At least three years of work experience in a mortuary or anatomy laboratory.
- Current licensure by the Kenya Health Professions Oversight Authority (KHPOA).
- Membership of the Morticians and Allied Practitioners of Kenya (MAPAKe).
