Job Role: Operations Manager

Role Profile

We are looking for a highly analytical and experienced Operations Manager to lead our warehousing and distribution hub in Kiambu. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end efficiency of our supply chain, from inventory holding to last-mile delivery. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can optimize fleet utilization, implement rigorous stock control measures, and lead a diverse team to meet strict service level agreements. You will be expected to leverage data to drive cost-saving initiatives and streamline workflows in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics & Distribution Governance

  • Direct daily activities across warehousing and final-mile delivery to ensure accurate dispatch.

  • Design and coordinate complex delivery schedules to maximize fleet utilization and routing efficiency.

  • Oversee the order fulfillment cycle to maintain exceptional customer satisfaction and service reliability.

  • Align demand, supply, and delivery plans through close collaboration with Sales and Procurement teams.

Stock Integrity & Warehouse Management

  • Maintain optimal inventory levels using advanced control systems to prevent stock-outs or excessive holding.

  • Enforce rigorous inventory protocols, including frequent cycle counts and comprehensive stock audits.

  • Lead investigations into stock discrepancies, damages, or losses, implementing corrective measures immediately.

  • Ensure all goods are stored and organized according to safety and accessibility standards.

Strategic Efficiency & Performance

  • Identify and execute cost-reduction strategies within transport, labor, and storage operations.

  • Formulate and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance productivity and reduce operational waste.

  • Monitor operational expenses and resource utilization to ensure high Return on Investment (ROI).

  • Support senior management with data-driven insights through detailed daily and monthly performance reports.

Leadership & Risk Mitigation

  • Supervise and mentor the warehouse and distribution teams, setting clear performance benchmarks and KPIs.

  • Manage staff scheduling and productivity to ensure the facility meets all operational targets.

  • Ensure 100% adherence to health and safety regulations, company policies, and legal requirements.

  • Proactively identify operational risks and implement robust mitigation plans.

Required Competencies & Qualifications

Academic & Professional Background

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience specifically in FMCG or distribution-heavy operations.

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS Excel and modern operational/ERP systems.

Management Skill Set

  • Leadership: Proven track record of managing and motivating large operational teams.

  • Analysis: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data for decision-making.

  • Execution: High level of accountability with the ability to juggle multiple priorities under pressure.

  • Organization: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to continuous process improvement.
