Job Title: Microfinance Officer
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Reports To: Branch Manager
Job Purpose
To drive growth and operational excellence within a busy microfinance institution by managing client portfolios, analyzing financial statements, and ensuring timely repayment of loans.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of microfinance clients, conducting regular field visits and follow-ups.
- Analyze client financial statements and credit history to assess creditworthiness.
- Prepare detailed loan appraisal reports and submit them within strict deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with institutional lending policies and procedures.
- Monitor loan repayment schedules and initiate recovery actions for overdue accounts.
- Maintain accurate records and reports using advanced Excel and other MS Office tools.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma certificate in any business-related field from a recognized university.
- At least 2 years of practical working experience in a busy microfinance institution or financial institution.
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, data analysis).
- Strong report writing skills and excellent ability to analyze financial statements.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and negotiation skills.
- Keen eye for detail and ability to work under strict deadlines.
- Working knowledge of MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
