Montessori Teacher (PP1)

Role Overview

The Montessori Teacher will guide PP1 children through hands-on learning, practical life activities, and opportunities to develop independence at their own pace. By preparing an orderly, engaging classroom and observing each child’s progress, the teacher supports early learning while helping maintain children’s safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and lead age-appropriate Montessori lessons and practical life activities for PP1 learners.
• Introduce Montessori materials in a clear, purposeful way, encouraging children to practise skills and learn through self-correction.
• Observe children’s development and adapt lesson pacing and support to their individual progress and learning needs.
• Keep the classroom organised, stimulating, child-friendly, and consistent with Montessori practice.
• Encourage confidence, cooperation, self-discipline, emotional security, and respect among learners.
• Supervise children during lessons and daily routines, attending to their safety, hygiene, and well-being.
• Keep accurate attendance, lesson plans, assessment records, and notes on children’s behaviour and development.
• Share relevant progress updates with parents and work with colleagues and school administration to support learners and uphold school standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A certificate or diploma in Montessori education from a recognised training institution.
• At least 2–3 years of teaching experience in a registered Montessori school or kindergarten.
• Sound knowledge of Montessori principles, early childhood pedagogy, and child development milestones.
• A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach to working with young children.
• Clear communication skills for engaging with parents and collaborating with colleagues.
• First Aid, child safety, or safeguarding training is an advantage.
