Role Overview
This position is for an experienced mobile developer who enjoys teaching others and wants to turn hands-on expertise into learner outcomes. You will lead cohorts through the full arc of mobile app creation—from interface design and logic building to API integration and final store deployment—while giving each student targeted feedback on their projects. Your work directly shapes whether learners leave with not just knowledge, but a polished app they can show employers and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and run interactive workshops, live coding demonstrations, and practical lab sessions that walk students through real mobile development challenges.
- Instruct on core topics including screen layouts, navigation, state handling, consuming REST APIs, local persistence, unit testing, and release workflows.
- Work with individual learners on their portfolio projects, troubleshooting code, suggesting architecture improvements, and pushing them toward production-quality output.
- Review student submissions with code comments and one-on-one check-ins, then translate those findings into actionable next steps.
- Continuously refresh training materials, exercises, and project briefs so they reflect the mobile frameworks and tooling currently used by industry teams.
- Assess learner progress against module outcomes and adapt pacing or explanations where the group needs more support.
- Share practical tips on app store submission, version control workflows, and debugging techniques that help learners become self-sufficient developers.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline, with equivalent practical experience also considered.
- Proven professional experience building mobile applications from scratch—either native Android or iOS, or cross-platform using Flutter or React Native.
- Solid command of the surrounding development stack: Git for version control, API integration patterns, automated testing approaches, and app deployment processes for both major stores.
- Comfortable explaining technical concepts to learners with varying backgrounds, using analogies, diagrams, and live code rather than abstract theory alone.
- Previous teaching, mentoring, workshop facilitation, or public speaking experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- At least one completed mobile app or open-source project in your portfolio that demonstrates your ability to take an idea through to a shipped, usable product.
