Job Description

Role Overview

You will deliver evidence-based medical care to patients, with a strong emphasis on diagnosing and managing cardiovascular conditions alongside a full spectrum of acute and chronic illnesses. Day to day, this means assessing new admissions, following up on inpatients and outpatients, responding to medical emergencies, and collaborating closely with cardiologists, surgeons, and nursing teams. Your work directly supports the hospital’s mission to provide high-quality, holistic care in a faith-driven environment, where clinical excellence is paired with compassionate service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients presenting with a wide range of medical issues, from stable chronic conditions to acute cardiac events.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical findings, laboratory results, and imaging studies, adjusting them as the patient’s condition evolves.
  • Stabilise and manage critically ill patients in emergency settings, including those requiring rapid cardiovascular intervention.
  • Participate actively in daily ward rounds, multidisciplinary team discussions, and clinical audits to ensure coordinated, high-standard care.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential medical records in line with hospital policies and legal requirements.
  • Provide clear, empathetic education to patients and families about their diagnoses, treatment options, prevention strategies, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Adhere strictly to infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and all regulatory compliance measures.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through medical education sessions, research activities, and quality improvement projects.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from a recognised university.
  • Current registration and a valid practising licence from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is strongly preferred.
  • At least two years of post-internship clinical experience in a busy hospital environment.
  • Prior exposure to cardiology, emergency medicine, critical care, or internal medicine is highly desirable.
