Role Overview
You will be the face of wellness at a luxury safari lodge, greeting each guest with authentic warmth and immediately putting them at ease. Day to day means delivering tailored massage and body treatments that respond to individual needs, while upholding impeccable hygiene and calm in your treatment space. This role matters because every session directly shapes the guest’s overall sense of relaxation and connection to the lodge’s ethos of heartfelt hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional, customised massage and wellness treatments that reflect guests’ preferences and comfort levels.
- Create a serene, private atmosphere in treatment rooms, ensuring linens, products, and equipment are always spotless and ready.
- Engage with each guest before and after treatments to understand their needs, answer questions, and offer aftercare advice.
- Monitor guest comfort throughout sessions, adjusting pressure or technique to maintain safety and relaxation.
- Maintain strict hygiene, health, and safety protocols, including proper sanitation of tools and surfaces between appointments.
- Collaborate with lodge departments such as front desk and housekeeping to coordinate appointment timing and guest flow.
- When no massage bookings exist, support other lodge areas — for example, assisting with guest activities or team tasks — as needed.
- Live the lodge’s core values of ubuntu, respect, honesty, courage, and joy in every interaction with guests and colleagues.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma in massage therapy, beauty therapy, holistic therapy, or an equivalent field from a recognised institution.
- Professional experience as a masseuse, ideally within a high-end hospitality, spa, or wellness setting.
- Proficiency in multiple massage modalities (e.g., Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, aromatherapy) and the ability to adapt them to individual clients.
- Strong understanding of hygiene, safety, and guest-care standards relevant to a spa environment.
- Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills to build rapport with guests from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, public holidays, and varying shift lengths.
- Current first aid certification is a distinct advantage.
