Role Overview
This position blends hands-on bodywork with the behind-the-scenes upkeep that keeps a spa running smoothly. You will deliver professional massage treatments to guests while also taking ownership of the treatment rooms themselves — resetting, sanitising, and restocking them between appointments so every visitor walks into a spotless, welcoming space. Because guests judge a spa as much on its cleanliness and calm as on the quality of the massage, your dual focus on skilled technique and meticulous room care directly shapes how the business is perceived.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform professional massage treatments for guests, adapting pressure and technique to individual needs while maintaining a safe, respectful, and courteous manner throughout the session.
- Reset each treatment room between guests, cleaning and sanitising surfaces, tables, and equipment so the room is ready and immaculate for the next appointment.
- Keep treatment rooms and surrounding areas presented to a consistently high standard, checking lighting, temperature, ambience, and general tidiness.
- Restock and replace towels, linens, toiletries, oils, and other consumables so therapists never run short mid-shift.
- Strip, handle, and store used linens according to hygiene procedures, keeping clean and soiled items strictly separated.
- Uphold the spa's sanitation and hygiene standards at all times, following established cleaning routines and product-handling guidelines.
- Flag maintenance faults, damaged equipment, and low stock to your supervisor promptly so problems are resolved before they affect guests.
- Support general room-stewarding and housekeeping duties as needed, and present a well-groomed, professional appearance on every shift.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A certificate or formal training in massage therapy is a distinct advantage for this role.
- Prior experience as a massage therapist, spa attendant, room steward, or in a comparable hospitality position.
- Solid working knowledge of hygiene, sanitation, and room-cleaning procedures, particularly within a spa or wellness setting.
- Strong customer service instincts and clear, friendly communication with guests and colleagues.
- Well-groomed, dependable, and hardworking, with the ability to stay productive without close supervision.
- Discretion and respect for guest privacy, including handling personal information and treatment details confidentially.
- Availability to work a rotating schedule that includes shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
