Market Access Lead, Market Dynamics

Role Overview

This position sits where market intelligence meets on-the-ground delivery: the person in it studies how essential health products travel from manufacturers to the patients and programmes that depend on them, then designs the procurement and distribution approaches that make those products more affordable, more consistently available, and more durable over time. The work is collaborative and outward-facing, requiring regular engagement with government agencies, private distributors and manufacturers, donors, and implementing partners across several countries. It matters because the difference between a strategy that reads well and one that actually raises product availability comes down to whether someone can lead its execution — managing teams, budgets, and partner relationships while the plan is still being tested in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine health product markets, procurement channels, and end-to-end supply chains to identify where cost, reliability, or access can realistically be improved.
• Design supply chain strategies for both publicly funded and commercially driven actors, and remain engaged through rollout rather than stopping at the recommendation stage.
• Benchmark performance across forecasting, sourcing, stock control, warehousing, and distribution, then build practical plans to close the capacity gaps that emerge.
• Shape procurement approaches — including contracting structures, terms, and conditions — that help buyers secure products at sustainable prices and on dependable timelines.
• Develop supply and distribution plans, incorporating contingency and surge logistics for demand spikes, supply interruptions, or emergency scenarios.
• Convert clinical, scientific, and technical evidence into market, business, and procurement guidance that decision makers without a technical background can act on.
• Provide hands-on technical support in-country, including field-level assessments, direct assistance to partners, and troubleshooting when delivery stalls.
• Lead project delivery across multiple geographies, overseeing workplans, budgets, partner scopes, and the day-to-day work of project staff, and translating findings into reports, briefings, and strategic recommendations for donors and health-sector collaborators.

Requirements & Qualifications

• An advanced degree in business, supply chain management, international development, public health, health or pharmaceutical sciences, procurement, or a comparable discipline.
• At least seven years of professional experience, including time spent inside a health product supply chain organisation — a distributor, wholesaler, central medical store, national procurement agency, manufacturer, or similar operation.
• Working command of both public and private procurement environments, covering regulatory compliance, export requirements, contracting, inventory and stock management, and delivery terms and conditions.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills applied to market intelligence, forecasting, and product or supply chain landscape assessments, with a track record of using that analysis to inform introduction, scale-up, and delivery or business strategy.
• Prior experience designing procurement strategies or contracting terms that measurably improved product access.
• Demonstrated ability to move from analysis to practical recommendation and then support the implementation of that recommendation within the global health sector.
• Comfort operating independently and owning deliverables in a fast-moving environment with competing demands.
• Recent experience as a project or workstream lead in global health, including responsibility for partner scopes, budget compliance, and prioritisation across multiple workstreams.
• Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Familiarity with maternal, newborn, and child health product markets and the procurement and distribution arrangements specific to them.
• Exposure to new business development, fundraising, grant writing, or proposal development.
• Knowledge of health financing mechanisms, national health insurance schemes, or reimbursement systems and schedules.
• An established network across the global health sector, with experience bringing public, private, and development-sector stakeholders together.
• Proficiency in French.
