Role Overview
As a Machine Operator within our manufacturing operations, you will be the hands-on expert responsible for running production lines safely, efficiently, and to world-class quality standards. Day to day, you will set up and adjust machinery, monitor output, perform changeovers, and collaborate closely with maintenance and quality teams to keep equipment running at peak performance. Your work directly supports our commitment to delivering trusted fast-moving consumer goods while continuously improving how we manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate production machinery safely and effectively to execute the daily production plan without compromising quality or output targets.
- Maintain equipment to prescribed cleanliness and maintenance standards, ensuring machines are always ready for reliable operation.
- Understand the properties of raw materials and packaging, making precise adjustments and settings to achieve correct product specifications.
- Partner with Professional Maintenance and Quality Control teams to proactively prevent breakdowns and eliminate defects at the source.
- Execute product and process changeovers and washouts, preserving quality while minimizing downtime and impact on the production schedule.
- Monitor product and packaging quality against set standards, reporting any faults and quickly detecting process abnormalities to take corrective action.
- Measure performance after improvements and drive further action through Kaizen and continuous improvement activities.
- Move flexibly between workstations, including climbing steps, and apply hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity for assembly and control tasks.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related technical field.
- At least one year of working experience in a similar machine operation role.
- Proven experience as a Machine Operator, ideally within a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to progress through the Unilever Technical Operator Curriculum from entry to full level.
- Working knowledge of workplace organization, professional maintenance, and quality maintenance tools and steps.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Physical agility to move quickly between workstations and navigate steps safely.
