Job Description

Role Overview

As a Loss Prevention Officer, you will be the front line of defense against shrinkage, theft, and operational risk across our retail environment. Your day-to-day work involves monitoring store activity, investigating suspicious behavior, and identifying process gaps that lead to inventory loss. By protecting company assets and supporting a safe shopping atmosphere, you directly contribute to profitability and operational stability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular floor walks and live surveillance to detect and deter theft, fraud, and internal policy violations.
  • Review exception reports, point-of-sale data, and inventory records to uncover patterns of shrinkage or employee dishonesty.
  • Investigate incidents of suspected theft or misconduct, interview relevant parties when appropriate, and document findings thoroughly.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement and security teams to handle apprehensions, recoveries, and legal follow-ups in compliance with company policy.
  • Prepare clear, factual incident reports and maintain secure case files for management review and audit purposes.
  • Assist with cycle counts and periodic inventory audits to verify stock accuracy and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Partner with store leadership to train staff on loss prevention best practices, cash handling controls, and shrink awareness.
  • Monitor the functionality of CCTV systems, alarms, and electronic article surveillance equipment, reporting any technical failures for prompt resolution.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Security Management, Criminology, or an adjacent discipline.
  • Two to four years of hands-on experience in loss control, security management, or a comparable protective role; retail experience is a meaningful plus.
  • Solid command of loss prevention methodologies, including surveillance tactics, investigative interviewing, and evidence preservation.
  • Sharp observational instincts paired with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to detect subtle anomalies and resolve complex situations.
  • Aptitude with Microsoft Office applications and standard reporting tools for data entry, trend analysis, and incident documentation.
  • Unquestionable integrity, a high degree of confidentiality, and meticulous attention to detail in all actions and records.
