Role Overview
This academic role centres on delivering high-quality teaching and research supervision across both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will take responsibility for the full teaching cycle, from curriculum delivery to assessment, while also contributing to the department's research output, grant acquisition, and strategic planning. Your work directly shapes student outcomes and helps the faculty maintain academic excellence and a strong external reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures, seminars, and tutorials to undergraduate and postgraduate students across core and elective modules in the relevant discipline.
- Design, set, and moderate examination papers, then administer, mark, and process results in line with university regulations and quality assurance standards.
- Act as an academic advisor, guiding students on course selection, academic progress, and career pathways throughout their studies.
- Create and update teaching and learning materials, including study guides, case studies, and digital resources, to support student engagement and outcomes.
- Supervise student research projects and dissertations, providing constructive feedback and ensuring timely completion to required academic standards.
- Develop and submit funding proposals for research, and carry out independent or collaborative research leading to peer-reviewed publications.
- Contribute to curriculum development, departmental strategic plans, and quality assurance reviews through active participation in committee and faculty meetings.
- Represent the department at internal and external events, including workshops, academic conferences, and interdisciplinary collaboration forums, while undertaking administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
- An earned PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline from an accredited and recognised university, with eligibility for registration with the applicable professional body where one exists.
- Alternatively, a Master's degree in the relevant field from an accredited university will be considered in special cases, provided the candidate has at least three years of university-level teaching, research, or industry experience.
- A minimum of twenty-four publication points, including at least ten points drawn from peer-reviewed journal articles, demonstrating a track record of scholarly output.
- Current registration with the relevant professional body, where applicable to the discipline.
- Proven ability to teach effectively at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including experience with examination processes and student supervision.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with capacity to work collaboratively across departmental and interdisciplinary teams.
