Job Description

Role Overview

This teaching position sits within a Cambridge International Curriculum school guided by Catholic values. The educator will deliver Biology and Chemistry lessons to secondary students, using an enquiry-based, real-world approach that matches each learner's abilities. Reporting to the Head of Department and Principal, the teacher is responsible for creating a supportive, focused classroom where students master academic standards and develop a lasting enthusiasm for science.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver Biology and Chemistry lessons aligned with Cambridge International Curriculum standards, adapting content to suit students' individual needs and attainment levels.
  • Use enquiry-based, real-world teaching methods that make scientific concepts relevant and engaging.
  • Create a structured classroom atmosphere that supports learning, matches students' maturity and interests, and keeps lessons organised and purposeful.
  • Foster genuine excitement for learning by integrating joy and passion into daily instruction, encouraging students to pursue academic excellence.
  • Take accountability for student progress and mastery of curriculum content, using assessment to guide teaching and intervention.
  • Contribute to the school's vision and philosophy, modelling the positive values, attitudes and behaviours expected of staff.
  • Work within school policies and frameworks, and maintain professional, constructive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Department and other staff to uphold the Catholic ethos of the school.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • TSC certification and a relevant degree in Education, with a focus on Biology and/or Chemistry.
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience, ideally within a Cambridge or equivalent international curriculum.
  • A practising Catholic who embraces and supports the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Flexible and open to change, with the ability to handle uncertainty and complexity in a school environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
  • A commitment to continuous professional growth and alignment with the school's educational philosophy.
