Role Overview
This role owns how skills are built across a manufacturing operation — from production units to corporate support functions. Day to day, it means diagnosing where capability gaps exist, translating those findings into training that people actually complete, and personally steering a structured trainee rotation programme so new talent is placed where it adds value. Because consistent output and quality depend on how fast teams become competent, the frameworks this person builds have a direct bearing on productivity and on the company's ability to grow its own supervisors and specialists.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out training needs assessments across factory floor teams and office departments, then convert the results into an annual learning calendar aligned with quality targets and growth plans.
- Write, curate and refresh learning content — technical manuals, facilitator-led workshop material and e-learning modules — keeping it current as processes and equipment change.
- Deliver new-hire induction alongside refresher sessions, safety and compliance training, and leadership development workshops.
- Run the full lifecycle of the trainee programme, including six-month rotations through different departments and adherence to each rotation cycle as scheduled.
- Work with line managers to pair trainees with experienced mentors, monitor individual progress, and hold evaluation and feedback reviews at each milestone.
- Review and refine rotation content and experiential learning paths so trainees are absorbed into permanent roles more effectively.
- Assess the practical value of internal and external training, and keep the learning management system updated with attendance records, completion metrics and live dashboards.
- Produce monthly L&D performance reports for senior management and help line managers structure performance improvement plans through targeted coaching.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Education, Business Administration or a closely related discipline.
- At least three years of progressive experience in a dedicated learning and development role, corporate training facilitation, or a specialist HR capacity.
- Hands-on experience designing and running graduate, apprentice or management trainee programmes is strongly preferred.
- Background in a manufacturing, engineering or plant operations setting is an advantage.
- Confident presenter and facilitator, comfortable leading workshops and speaking to groups at all levels of the business.
- Practical working knowledge of learning management systems, digital learning tools and reporting dashboards.
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage mentors and keep momentum behind continuous learning.
What We Offer
- Monthly salary of KSh 60,000 – KSh 80,000, depending on experience and fit.
- Full-time, on-site position based at a manufacturing plant in Mlolongo, Machakos County.
- Ownership of training strategy and trainee development across multiple divisions of the business.
Applicants should send an updated CV together with a cover letter that sets out their corporate training and programme management experience.
