Role Overview
Reporting to the Senior Principal, this school academic leader is responsible for the quality and consistency of teaching, curriculum delivery, and student outcomes. The role combines oversight of departments and school operations with classroom teaching in Key Stage 2 Mathematics and Science.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead curriculum planning and delivery, maintaining academic standards and alignment with Pearson Edexcel requirements.
- Monitor learner progress and use assessment information to identify areas for improvement.
- Guide Heads of Department and teachers through lesson observations, performance reviews, coaching, and professional development.
- Promote student welfare, safeguarding, and positive behaviour, and ensure school policies are followed.
- Coordinate examinations, academic reports, timetables, the school calendar, and routine operational arrangements.
- Oversee co-curricular activities and educational visits, including planning and risk assessments.
- Maintain communication with parents and other school stakeholders.
- Teach Key Stage 2 Mathematics and Science.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in school academic leadership, curriculum management, and staff supervision.
- Knowledge of Pearson Edexcel curriculum, assessment, and quality assurance practices.
- Ability to teach Mathematics and Science at Key Stage 2.
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and communication, planning, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills.
