Role Overview

As a primary school teacher, you will deliver engaging, learner-centred lessons that align with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and the school’s broader CBE framework. Your day-to-day work involves preparing schemes of work and lesson plans, teaching across assigned learning areas, assessing learner progress, and fostering a safe, inclusive classroom environment. You will also play an active part in school life beyond the classroom by supporting co-curricular activities and collaborating with fellow teachers to uphold the school’s academic and developmental goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver structured, interactive lessons that meet CBC/CBE requirements and cater to diverse learner needs.
• Prepare and maintain accurate teaching records, including lesson plans, schemes of work, progress records, and assessment reports.
• Assess and evaluate learners’ academic and social development through continuous, formative, and summative assessment methods.
• Integrate ICT tools and digital resources into teaching practices to enhance learning outcomes and learner engagement.
• Foster a positive, disciplined classroom environment that promotes curiosity, critical thinking, and respect among learners.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding learners’ performance, behaviour, and overall well-being.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide educational initiatives.
• Mentor and guide learners in co-curricular activities such as sports, drama, music, or clubs, in line with your skills and interests.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Must be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and hold a valid teaching registration certificate.
• Must possess a P1 certificate or an upgraded Diploma in Education from a recognised institution.
• A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in a reputable primary school setting.
• Must be fully compliant with both CBE (Competency-Based Education) and CBC (Competency-Based Curriculum) approaches.
• Proficiency in ICT is an added advantage, with the ability to use digital tools for teaching and administrative tasks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to present information clearly to learners, parents, and colleagues.
• Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a collaborative mindset to work effectively within a school team.
• Willingness to actively support and contribute to co-curricular programmes and school events.
