Role Overview
This position centres on guiding pre-primary learners through their earliest and most formative years of schooling, delivering the Competency-Based Curriculum in a way that builds curiosity, confidence, and foundational literacy and numeracy. The teacher owns the full classroom cycle — planning, instruction, assessment, and family communication — while helping children grow socially, emotionally, and spiritually in a faith-based setting. Because young learners thrive on variety and interaction, the role also calls for someone who brings energy to co-curricular life and can move comfortably between face-to-face and virtual instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver CBC-aligned lessons and learning experiences suited to pre-primary learners, using play, storytelling, song, and hands-on activities to build foundational skills.
- Create and maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming classroom where children feel secure enough to explore, ask questions, and take part.
- Assess learners continuously through observation, learner portfolios, and other CBC assessment approaches, then use the results to adjust teaching.
- Keep accurate records of attendance, assessment, and learner progress, and prepare reports for school leadership and parents.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their children's development, behaviour, and learning needs.
- Lead or support co-curricular activities such as music, drama, sports, art, and club sessions, and help prepare learners for school events.
- Integrate Christian values and devotions into the daily routine, modelling the school's faith commitment in interactions with learners and colleagues.
- Use digital tools and learning platforms to deliver or supplement lessons, including during periods of virtual or blended learning.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and school leadership on curriculum planning, learner support, and school-wide initiatives.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Early Childhood Development (ECD) from a recognised institution.
- Formal training in the Competency-Based Curriculum, with hands-on classroom experience applying it.
- Current registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
- At least two years of teaching experience, preferably with pre-primary or early years learners.
- A valid certificate of good conduct.
- Demonstrable computer proficiency, including the ability to plan and facilitate virtual learning.
- Active involvement in co-curricular activities and a willingness to lead or coach them.
- A committed Christian faith, consistent with the school's ethos and daily practice.
- Flexibility and openness to change, with a positive, collaborative attitude toward new methods and school direction.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with young children, parents, and colleagues.
What We Offer / Why Join
- A classroom role within a faith-based environment where Christian values shape daily teaching and school life.
- The chance to work directly with the Competency-Based Curriculum at the early years level, where your teaching has visible, lasting impact.
- Scope to bring your own energy and interests into co-curricular activities and school events.
- Support for technology-enabled teaching, including virtual learning tools.
- A collegial setting that values adaptability and a constructive attitude as the school grows and evolves.
