Role Overview
This position sits at the meeting point of customer support and internal IT for a business built around vehicle tracking and fleet management technology. Day to day, you will be the first person clients reach when a tracking unit stops reporting or a dashboard fails to update, while also keeping the company's own hardware, accounts, and network running without interruption. Because clients rely on these systems to monitor live fleets, fast diagnosis and clear communication are as important here as the technical fix itself.
Key Responsibilities
- Take inbound client calls about tracking faults, gather the relevant details, and either resolve the problem during the call or pass it to the operations team for an on-site intervention.
- Watch customer dashboards and device status feeds, spotting units that have dropped offline or are behaving inconsistently before the client notices.
- Compile and send technical reports on request, including trip histories, movement logs, and summaries of offline devices.
- Act as the internal helpdesk for colleagues, diagnosing and fixing hardware, software, and network problems across the business.
- Set up user accounts, configure company devices, manage access rights to internal platforms, and keep the register of issued equipment, software licences, and credentials current.
- Handle routine system upkeep such as updates, antivirus maintenance, backups, and security controls, and involve third-party IT vendors when a fault falls outside in-house scope.
- Log every support ticket and recurring fault, then produce daily or weekly summaries covering client cases, device health, and the actions taken.
- Walk staff and clients through the tracking platform and dashboard tools, whether during a support call or in a short training session.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline; graduates of JKUAT are preferred.
- One to two years of hands-on experience in IT support, helpdesk, or technical support work.
- Familiarity with vehicle tracking systems, fleet dashboards, or CRM tools would be a clear advantage.
- Comfortable switching between technical diagnostics and client-facing conversation, and able to explain a fix in plain language.
- Strong troubleshooting instincts — the ability to trace a fault back to its cause rather than treating symptoms.
- Clear verbal communication suited to phone-based support.
- Careful attention to detail when documenting tickets and preparing reports.
- Good time management and the judgement to prioritise competing requests.
- High integrity, professionalism, and a working awareness of data security practices.
Why Join
You would be joining a dedicated technical team at an established provider of vehicle tracking and fleet management solutions, in a role where the results of your work show up on live dashboards every day.
