IT & Systems Engineer

Role Overview

This engineer owns the technical backbone that keeps enterprise systems running: shaping architecture, extending platforms with custom code, and wiring core systems to the outside world so procurement, inventory, billing, finance, and operations work from clean, trustworthy data. The day-to-day mix is hands-on development inside an ERP-class environment, database and integration design, and rapid diagnosis of script errors, failed jobs, and slow queries. Reporting to the IT Development Manager, the role turns business requirements into secure, well-governed technical solutions that hold up under real operational load.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and deliver scalable, secure system solutions that support core business processes, applying sound design principles rather than one-off fixes.
• Write and maintain custom applications and platform extensions in JavaScript (ES5/ES6) — event-driven scripts, client-side logic, API endpoints, and scheduled or background jobs — with Python, Java, or similar languages as a bonus.
• Build and optimize database schemas, queries, and data models, and design the transformation, validation, and synchronization logic that keeps records accurate and reconciled across connected systems.
• Design and implement REST and SOAP integrations linking core platforms with CRM systems, billing platforms, payment gateways, and other operational tools, including middleware connectors.
• Create and maintain custom records, fields, forms, and workflow automations that remove manual steps and tighten data quality.
• Investigate and resolve system faults, script failures, and performance bottlenecks; tune queries and data extraction routines.
• Develop reports, dashboards, and saved searches for business and operational reporting, and restructure existing reporting where it has become slow or unwieldy.
• Partner with business stakeholders, system administrators, and fellow developers to translate functional requirements into technical designs; document scripts and customizations, follow version control and testing practices, and support audits, compliance activities, and critical operational cycles.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years in systems or software engineering, application development, or a comparable technical role.
• Proficiency in JavaScript (ES5/ES6) as a primary language, writing maintainable server-side and client-side code; experience with Python, Java, or other languages is an advantage.
• Strong database and SQL capability: data modeling, schema design, query optimization, and work with structured datasets.
• Demonstrated experience designing and delivering REST and SOAP API integrations between internal systems and external platforms.
• Track record of debugging, testing, and performance tuning within enterprise systems.
• Experience customizing business system workflows — custom records, fields, forms, and reporting customizations — plus automating manual business processes.
• Familiarity with integrating enterprise platforms such as CRM, billing, or other operational systems.
• Working knowledge of audit trails, security controls, and governance practices in enterprise environments.
• Preferred: certification in software architecture, system design, or a cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or equivalent), and database certification such as Microsoft or Oracle SQL.
• Nice to have: NetSuite SuiteFoundation, SuiteCloud Developer, or NetSuite ERP Consultant certification; accounting qualification such as CPA or ACCA.
• Good to have: understanding of financial systems and accounting processes — General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, billing, and revenue recognition — and experience supporting financial reporting, reconciliation, and data integrity work.
• Nice to have: hands-on NetSuite or comparable ERP experience covering customization, scripting, and integration development.
