Quality Assurance Analyst, METAL

Role Overview

As a Quality Assurance Analyst on the METAL team, you will test and improve digital tools used to support CRRD programs, from mobile data collection and case management to Power BI reporting and the data systems behind it. Your work will help teams trust the information they collect and use, while ensuring applications are accurate, accessible, and ready for rollout across different locations and devices.

Key Responsibilities

• Turn business requirements into clear test plans and cases covering functional, system, integration, user acceptance, regression, and performance testing, using Agile and Scrum practices.
• Lead the QA workstream for assigned projects: examine requirements for gaps, document and manage tests in Jira, coordinate reviews, report risks, and provide release sign-off and smoke testing.
• Check data flows and reporting products for accuracy and consistency, including ETL processes, migrations, transformations, dashboards, and visualizations across connected systems.
• Test applications built with CommCare, PowerApps, and related tools for usability, responsive layouts, and alignment with design and functional specifications.
• Verify compatibility across browsers, operating systems, phones, and tablets, including iOS and Android devices.
• Identify, document, and follow defects through resolution; recommend changes that strengthen product usability, reliability, and the development process.
• Agree testing schedules with project and development colleagues, communicate progress clearly, and help set release dates that allow sufficient time for thorough testing.
• Work closely with METAL developers, project staff, and the wider QA team to apply consistent testing practices across distributed teams.

Requirements & Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience testing data applications, including ownership of the QA lifecycle and support for user acceptance testing.
• At least 2 years of experience testing data products or processes such as ETL pipelines, dashboards, and reports.
• Experience with manual functional and system testing, plus at least 1 year of test automation experience.
• Practical experience with CommCare or comparable mobile data collection, case management, or low-code platforms such as ODK-based tools, Ona, Kobo, or Microsoft PowerApps.
• Working knowledge of Power BI and data technologies such as T-SQL, Azure SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, SSIS or similar ETL tools, data modeling, and data warehouses.
• Some experience with performance or load testing using tools such as JMeter; familiarity with stress testing is useful.
• Ability to independently organize and lead QA activities, prioritize carefully, investigate problems, and maintain testing quality under delivery deadlines.
• Experience with Jira for managing defects and test cases, and familiarity with software delivery in an Agile environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across roles, locations, and cultures.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Software testing or quality assurance certification, such as CSQA or CSTE, is relevant.
• Experience testing multilingual applications or verifying multicurrency functionality is preferred.
