Investment Assistant

Role Overview

This entry-level position is the operational backbone of the investments team, handling the daily flow of data, reports, and administrative tasks that keep pension fund investments running smoothly. You will maintain accurate records, reconcile transactions, support basic research, and prepare compliance-ready reports — work that directly ensures the integrity of multi-million-dollar investment portfolios. The role is designed as a structured launchpad for future investment professionals, blending hands-on operational exposure with mentorship in pension fund management.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update investment databases, portfolio performance trackers, and monitoring schedules to ensure real-time accuracy.
• Reconcile investment transactions, accounts, and income streams (coupons, dividends, maturities) and follow up on settlement discrepancies.
• Gather market intelligence and economic data to support investment analysis; draft preliminary research reports and opportunity assessments.
• Prepare periodic investment dashboards, compliance reports, and board/committee packs by compiling data from fund managers, custodians, and internal systems.
• Track and document all investment decisions, filings, and audit recommendations to maintain a fully auditable record trail.
• Coordinate with external service providers (fund managers, brokers, custodians) on routine operational queries and information requests.
• Support member education initiatives by pulling relevant investment data and presenting it in accessible formats.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a closely related discipline from a recognised university.
• Professional qualifications (in progress, at least one): CIFA, CFA, CISI, CPA (K), ACCA, or an equivalent recognised credential.
• Experience: Minimum one year of relevant work experience in investment operations, financial analysis, or a similar analytical/administrative role.
• Technical skills: Foundational investment analysis, financial and economic analysis, data management, report writing, Microsoft Excel (including basic financial modelling), investment performance monitoring, and research.
• Behavioural competencies: Analytical thinking, strong attention to detail, learning agility, effective written and verbal communication, planning and organisation, teamwork, professionalism, and integrity.
