Role Overview
This role reports to the Claims Manager and sits within the claims department. The Internal Motor Assessor evaluates vehicle damage, controls repair and parts costs, and checks that repairs meet approved standards. The position is central to fast, fair, and cost-conscious motor claims handling.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct vehicle assessments and re-inspections in the Nairobi region, and review reports prepared by external assessors.
- Complete assessment report reviews within 12 hours.
- Negotiate lower parts prices and reduced mark-ups with dealers, sub-dealers, and parts suppliers in Nairobi and upcountry markets.
- Promote cash-in-lieu settlements and help drive adoption toward the annual 60M target.
- Help build a mid-sized garage panel across all regions, set up dealer accounts, agree parts discounts, and establish service level agreements.
- Track repair progress on customer vehicles so that repairs follow KEMRA-approved standards, and conduct random garage audits to confirm professionalism, integrity, and alignment with customer expectations.
- Report suspected motor claims fraud and recommend controls to reduce it.
- Support testing and rollout of new systems for accident scene management and claims assessment or re-assessment, produce monthly cost-saving reports by the 5th of each month, and take on other claims-related duties assigned by the Claims Manager.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of two years in the insurance industry in a comparable motor claims or assessment role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- COP in Insurance.
- A track record of integrity and professional competence, shown through work results.
