Internal Auditor

Role Overview

In this internal audit role, you will examine how key manufacturing and business processes operate, using risk-based reviews and SAP data to assess whether controls are working as intended. Your findings will help identify exposure, explain exceptions, and give stakeholders clear, practical information for strengthening operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct risk-based audits across procurement, production, warehousing, inventory, finance, and sales.
• Assess internal controls and risk management practices against relevant auditing standards and frameworks.
• Review manufacturing activities, including inventory management, production planning, and material balancing.
• Use SAP to extract and analyse transaction data, investigate unusual patterns, and verify supporting evidence.
• Apply data-analysis tools such as Power BI, SAP queries, CAATs, and AI-enabled tools to examine large datasets and identify potential exceptions.
• Independently validate analytics results before drawing conclusions or including findings in reports.
• Prepare thorough audit reports that communicate evidence, risks, and findings clearly to stakeholders.
• Work independently and alongside a small audit team, engaging process owners throughout reviews.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) qualification is mandatory.
• At least 5–7 years of internal audit experience; manufacturing-sector experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of internal auditing standards, risk management, and internal control frameworks.
• Practical understanding of manufacturing processes, especially inventory, production planning, and material balancing.
• Experience auditing procurement, production, warehouse, inventory, finance, and sales operations.
• Proficiency in SAP, including extracting, interpreting, and analysing data.
• Strong audit reporting, stakeholder engagement, and analytical skills, with the ability to contribute independently and in a small team.
• CIA and/or CISA certification is an added advantage.
