Internship Overview
This internship supports the Investment function by assisting the department with research, analysis, and reporting on macroeconomic trends, asset classes, and investment performance. The intern will work closely with the investment team to maintain accurate records, monitor compliance, and provide data-driven insights for decision making.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep up to date with macroeconomic trends, market developments, and monitor corporate actions of listed companies.
- Forecast near‑term and long‑term macroeconomic indicators such as GDP, inflation, and interest rates.
- Research, analyse, and provide relevant information through written reports for decision making.
- Analyse the investment attractiveness of existing and new listed equities, unlisted equities, offshore investments, private equity, alternative assets, and fixed income instruments.
- Maintain accurate investment records, databases, and files.
- Assist in monitoring investment performance and prepare periodic reports.
- Support compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Update the research database on a regular basis.
- Perform any other duties assigned.
Skills & Competencies
- Basic understanding of investment concepts, financial markets, and asset classes.
- Ability to analyse financial data and conduct simple financial and market research.
- Good numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn, adaptability, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Currently pursuing an investments professional course such as CIFA or CFA will be an added advantage.
- Relevant practical exposure to the investment or pension industry through an industrial attachment or internship.
- Knowledge and willingness to broaden skills in financial modelling and investment analysis.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite – Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and team building skills.
- Ability to learn quickly, work under guidance, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
