Role Overview
As an Implementation Engineer, you will guide healthcare clients through the technical setup and launch of Savannah Informatics’ software, translating their operational needs into working configurations, reliable data flows, and usable workflows. You will coordinate closely with client teams and colleagues across engineering, product, customer experience, and commercial functions, then help resolve technical issues and improve adoption after launch.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage implementations from discovery and planning through configuration, testing, launch, and early post-launch support.
- Work with client stakeholders to document workflows, data requirements, integration needs, user roles, permissions, business rules, templates, and billing or pricing settings.
- Prepare delivery plans with milestones, responsibilities, risks, and dependencies; coordinate cutover and contingency arrangements for go-live.
- Move data from legacy systems, spreadsheets, and other sources by cleaning, mapping, importing, and validating records with clients.
- Set up and troubleshoot integrations using APIs, file transfers, or middleware, partnering with engineering colleagues when issues require further investigation.
- Create and run implementation tests, support client user acceptance testing, track defects, and confirm agreed requirements are met before launch.
- Train users and administrators, produce practical implementation documentation, and provide responsive technical support after deployment.
- Track progress and adoption, maintain clear client and internal updates, share recurring product feedback, and develop reusable tools and processes that make future implementations more consistent.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Practical knowledge of software development, databases, SQL, networking, and technical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Python and Django, Git, and Linux or macOS environments.
- Understanding of APIs, integrations, data migration, software configuration, and testing practices.
- Strong diagnostic and analytical ability, including investigating root causes across configurations, databases, logs, or source code.
- Well-organised project coordination skills, with the ability to balance multiple client activities, deadlines, and priorities.
- Clear written and verbal communication, presentation, and client relationship skills; able to explain technical matters, train users, and work with senior stakeholders.
- A customer-minded, accountable approach, sound judgement under pressure, and the ability to learn complex products quickly and recommend practical improvements.
- Experience with CRM software, service desk platforms such as Jira, Freshdesk, ServiceNow, or Zendesk, or remote support tools is an advantage.
- Healthcare technology experience is desirable. Familiarity with Kenya’s healthcare technology landscape, EMR or HMIS platforms, and the Data Protection Act, 2019, is an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel to client facilities and provide occasional out-of-hours support when needed.
