Role Overview
This role sits at the heart of the organisation’s day-to-day technology operations, ensuring that staff can work productively with minimal disruption. You will be the first point of contact for hardware, software, and network issues, while also helping maintain the integrity of business databases and supporting system upgrades. The position is designed as a developmental opportunity for an early-career ICT professional who wants to build a solid foundation in infrastructure support, database administration, and information security within a structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to incoming support requests for computers, printers, mobile devices, and peripherals, diagnosing and resolving issues or escalating them when necessary.
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of desktop hardware, operating systems, and standard business software across the organisation.
- Monitor network equipment and connectivity, help troubleshoot basic network faults, and support the upkeep of switches, routers, and wireless access points.
- Perform routine database administration tasks such as data validation, running backups, testing recovery procedures, and ensuring data accuracy within the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and other business applications.
- Set up user accounts, manage access permissions in line with security policies, and support the onboarding process for new employees by preparing their ICT workspace.
- Generate regular reports from business systems, maintain logs of incidents and resolutions, and keep asset registers and technical documentation up to date.
- Promote good information security practices among staff, assist with compliance checks, and help implement backup and disaster recovery routines to safeguard organisational data.
- Support user training sessions, create simple how-to guides, and provide clear instructions to help colleagues use systems effectively and securely.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related ICT discipline from a recognised university.
- Professional certification (preferred or actively working toward): One or more credentials in areas such as Microsoft technologies, networking (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA), database administration (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server), cybersecurity (e.g., Security+), cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Azure), or IT service management (e.g., ITIL).
- Experience: At least one year of relevant work experience in ICT support, system administration, or a similar technical role.
- Technical skills: Solid foundation in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues; familiarity with database fundamentals and ERP system support; understanding of network basics and information security principles; ability to maintain and report on ICT assets and incidents.
