Role Overview
This role sits where engineering expertise meets revenue growth: you will spend your days surveying sites, sizing equipment, and shaping ventilation, refrigeration, and HVAC solutions that clients actually buy. You own the commercial conversation from first enquiry through tender, negotiation, and handover, which means your read on scope, cost, and risk determines whether projects are won and whether they earn a margin. Because the work depends on being trusted by consultants, contractors, and developers, relationship-building is as much a part of the job as the technical design itself.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, qualify, and convert new opportunities in HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical ventilation, and adjacent engineering project work.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with consultants, contractors, developers, architects, facility managers, and corporate buyers so the company is invited into projects early.
- Conduct site surveys and technical assessments, select and size equipment, and translate findings into solutions matched to each client's building, operating needs, and budget.
- Prepare technical proposals, quotations, cost estimates, tender submissions, and project budgets with defensible pricing and margins.
- Lead bid participation, respond to tender clarifications, and negotiate commercial terms to secure profitable contracts.
- Coordinate with internal engineering, procurement, and delivery colleagues to keep projects on specification, on schedule, and delivered to quality standards.
- Stay engaged with clients after project completion, resolving issues promptly and protecting long-term account relationships.
- Monitor competitor activity, pricing movements, and forthcoming projects to sharpen sales strategy, while keeping CRM records and pipeline reports accurate and current.
- Work within applicable engineering codes, safety requirements, and company policies, and contribute ideas that improve how the team sells and delivers.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Registration with a recognised professional engineering body is an added advantage.
- Minimum of three years' experience in technical sales, HVAC and mechanical systems, or engineering solutions.
- Demonstrated track record in HVAC project sales and business development, not just account servicing.
- Practical experience preparing tenders, bid documentation, and project costing.
- HVAC system design capability, including equipment selection, sizing, and interpretation of drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities.
- Strong commercial judgement, negotiation ability, and confidence presenting to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Project coordination skills and the ability to work across internal teams and external partners.
- Comfort with data analysis, pipeline reporting, and CRM discipline.
- Genuine customer focus, with the persistence to follow opportunities through to closure and beyond.
Why Join
- End-to-end ownership of the sales cycle, from technical concept through negotiation and delivery follow-up.
- Regular exposure to a broad professional network of consultants, contractors, developers, architects, and facility managers.
- Work alongside engineering and project delivery teams on solutions you helped define.
- A culture centred on customer satisfaction, safe working practice, and continuous improvement.
