House-keeping Supervisor

Role Overview

Each day, the Housekeeping Supervisor runs the floor or section assigned to them, setting the pace for room attendants and housekeeping stewards so that every guest room is cleaned, stocked, and inspected before check-in. They act as the first line of quality control, catching small issues before a guest notices and keeping public and back-of-house areas presentable. Because room cleanliness directly shapes guest reviews and repeat business, this role carries real weight in the hotel’s reputation.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign daily room cleaning and deep-cleaning tasks to room attendants and housekeeping stewards, adjusting as occupancy changes.
• Inspect occupied, departure, and vacant rooms to confirm they meet the hotel’s cleanliness, amenity, and presentation standards.
• Coach room attendants and stewards on performance, giving immediate feedback and supporting the Executive Housekeeper with training.
• Respond to guest requests and complaints promptly, resolving issues within your authority and escalating when needed.
• Coordinate VIP amenities and special requests, communicating details to the relevant teams.
• Administer lost-and-found items following hotel procedures and report maintenance faults to the Engineering department.
• Keep corridors, linen closets, and heart-of-house areas on assigned floors clean and organized.
• Uphold hotel security, fire safety, and health and safety regulations while collaborating with other departments.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in hotel management or a related field.
• At least 3 years of housekeeping experience in a hotel, with some time spent in a supervisory or team-lead role.
• Knowledge of room cleaning procedures, cleaning chemicals, and equipment.
• Familiarity with property management systems (PMS) and housekeeping software for tracking room status.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead a diverse team and interact with guests.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, and inspect rooms for most of the shift.
• Keen eye for detail and ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
