Job Description

Role Overview

This position is accountable for directing the complete day-to-day running of a healthcare facility, spanning clinical services, support functions, personnel, and financial health. The person in this role works at the intersection of strategy and operations, converting board-level objectives into tangible departmental actions while keeping the facility compliant, safe, and responsive to patients. Success is measured not only in meeting revenue and growth targets, but in building a working environment where multidisciplinary teams cooperate effectively and where patient satisfaction is a daily priority.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visible, hands-on leadership across all departments, setting clear priorities and removing operational bottlenecks that hinder timely service delivery.
  • Translate strategic goals into actionable operating plans, complete with realistic budgets, milestones, and performance indicators for each functional area.
  • Track financial health in real time by reviewing revenue intake, expenses, collections, and resource usage, then intervene quickly when actual results drift from projections.
  • Identify fresh revenue streams and service expansion opportunities, including partnerships, new clinical offerings, or productivity gains that make better use of existing capacity.
  • Work with Human Resources to maintain a well-structured workforce, overseeing rosters, recruitment intake, discipline, talent reviews, and day-to-day performance coaching.
  • Lead and facilitate regular meetings with clinical and non-clinical leads to coordinate care pathways, resolve interdepartmental friction, and ensure seamless handoffs for patients.
  • Maintain a rigorous compliance framework that addresses licensing rules, accreditation conditions, internal policies, privacy requirements, and industry quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement by examining clinical and non-clinical processes for safety gaps, efficiency losses, or service breakdowns, then launching targeted corrective initiatives.
  • Monitor the patient journey from arrival to discharge, including wait times, complaint handling, and feedback mechanisms, and use those insights to raise service standards.
  • Prepare concise, candid performance reports for senior leadership, covering wins, shortfalls, emerging risks, and clear recommendations for corrective action.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Health Services Management, or a related discipline; a postgraduate qualification is a definite advantage.
  • At least three years of progressive administrative experience in healthcare operations, with direct exposure to hospitals or organized private healthcare providers.
  • Proven ability to manage the operational and human dimensions of a facility simultaneously, including supervising managers, resolving conflict, and holding teams accountable.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare quality frameworks, patient safety protocols, regulatory and licensing obligations, and facilities that have gone through accreditation reviews.
  • Practical understanding of the financial levers in a healthcare setting, such as patient revenue cycles, expenditure control, insurance processes, and cost-to-service trade-offs.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with comfort interpreting facility dashboards and explaining complex performance data to varied audiences.
