Job Description

Role Overview

This role is the frontline growth driver for heavy machinery sales across Nairobi, Central Kenya, Mombasa, and Nyanza. The person in this seat spends most of the week in the field, meeting contractors, construction firms, mining operators, manufacturers, agricultural enterprises, and other equipment buyers, then turning those conversations into quotations, negotiations, and closed orders. The employer depends on this representative to keep the pipeline moving, protect existing accounts, and convert wide territory coverage into lasting market share.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and carry out territory sales plans that translate monthly and annual targets into daily prospecting, customer visits, and follow-up activity.
  • Own the full sales cycle, from identifying leads and assessing site requirements through quotation, commercial negotiation, order confirmation, and delivery coordination.
  • Present and demonstrate heavy equipment and related machinery, matching machine capabilities to customer applications, operating conditions, and production needs.
  • Develop durable relationships with contractors, construction companies, mining operations, manufacturers, agricultural businesses, and other buyers of capital equipment.
  • Keep CRM records, pipeline stages, and sales forecasts current, and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly activity and sales reports.
  • Monitor competitor pricing, equipment specifications, market shifts, and customer buying patterns, then use those insights to sharpen sales tactics.
  • Coordinate with technical service and after-sales colleagues to resolve questions about equipment performance, servicing, spare parts, and maintenance.
  • Represent the employer at trade shows, exhibitions, demonstrations, and industry events, while travelling regularly across the assigned regions.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Sales and Marketing, Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in technical sales of heavy equipment, machinery, construction plant, agricultural equipment, or comparable capital goods.
  • Working knowledge of Kenya’s heavy equipment market, including major customer groups, competitors, and buying cycles.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets, with strong negotiation, presentation, and account-management skills.
  • Capacity to generate and qualify new business independently and to manage a large geographic territory without close supervision.
  • Practical understanding of machine specifications and applications; formal technical knowledge of heavy machinery is an added advantage.
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across Nairobi, Central Kenya, Mombasa, and Nyanza.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM or sales-pipeline management systems.

What We Offer / Why Join

This is a full-time position with a monthly salary of KES 100,000. The role offers broad territory ownership across four key Kenyan markets, direct engagement with a varied base of equipment buyers, and the chance to combine field sales, technical product discussions, and long-term account development in one seat.
