Job Description

Role Overview

This is a field-based sales role for someone who is comfortable talking specifications with a quarry manager in the morning and negotiating payment terms with a contractor in the afternoon. You will carry the company's heavy machinery range into four distinct Kenyan markets — Nairobi, Central Kenya, Mombasa and Nyanza — and your job is to turn cold territory into a working pipeline of contractors, miners, manufacturers and agri-businesses that buy, service and re-buy equipment. The employer depends on this position to grow revenue outside its existing account base, so target achievement and honest, well-kept reporting matter as much as relationship building.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the complete sales cycle in your territory, from prospecting and first site visit through quoting, negotiation, closing and delivery follow-through.
  • Build and execute a territory sales plan that delivers against assigned monthly and annual revenue targets.
  • Open new accounts and develop existing ones across construction, mining, manufacturing, agriculture and other equipment-intensive sectors.
  • Deliver product presentations and equipment demonstrations, translating a customer's site conditions, workload and output goals into a suitable machine recommendation.
  • Prepare quotations, negotiate commercial terms and pricing, and keep every live opportunity moving toward a decision.
  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline, record all customer visits, quotations, orders and interactions, and submit daily, weekly and monthly reports and forecasts.
  • Watch competitor pricing, product moves and shifting market demand, and feed what you learn back to management.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, exhibitions, demonstrations and industry events, and work with technical and after-sales colleagues to resolve servicing, spare parts and maintenance questions that affect customer retention.
  • Travel extensively across the assigned regions to keep customer contact frequent and face-to-face.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Sales & Marketing, Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven track record in technical sales — heavy equipment, machinery, construction equipment, agricultural equipment or a comparable capital-goods category.
  • Working knowledge of Kenya's heavy equipment market, including the customer segments and buying behaviour specific to the regions covered.
  • Demonstrated ability to hit and exceed sales targets, with examples of deals you personally sourced and closed.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, communication and relationship-management skills, applied to both technical buyers and business owners.
  • Confident business development and lead-generation ability, including cold outreach and territory mapping.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a large geographical area with limited day-to-day supervision.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across Nairobi, Central Kenya, Mombasa and Nyanza.
  • A valid driving licence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and in CRM or sales management systems.
  • Technical understanding of heavy machinery and equipment is an added advantage.

What We Offer / Why Join

  • A full-time position with a monthly salary of KES 100,000.
  • Responsibility for a defined, multi-region territory covering Nairobi, Central Kenya, Mombasa and Nyanza, with the autonomy to build it your own way.
  • A product portfolio that spans heavy equipment, machinery and related lines, sold into a wide range of industries rather than a single vertical.
  • Close working partnership with technical and after-sales teams, so you are supported on the service side of every deal you win.
