Job Description

Role Overview

This senior leadership position owns the affluent client segment strategy for the country, from defining the proposition to executing commercial plans that grow market share and deepen client relationships. Day to day, you will guide cross-functional teams to deliver a differentiated wealth experience, while driving digital transformation and operational improvements that make it simpler for high-net-worth clients to do business with us. Your success will be measured by sustainable revenue growth, increased assets under management, and the bank’s standing as a leading wealth partner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the in-country affluent clients strategy, setting clear growth targets and commercial priorities that align with the wider wealth management business.
  • Drive client acquisition, retention, and wallet share expansion by designing and delivering a value proposition that resonates with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals.
  • Lead the end-to-end client journey, removing friction points and ensuring consistent, high-quality service across all touchpoints and channels.
  • Champion digital enablement and transformation initiatives, leveraging technology to enhance client experience, streamline processes, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with product, credit, risk, and other segment teams to deliver holistic financial solutions, including lending, investment, fiduciary, and advisory services.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and present complex credit applications and transactions, ensuring robust risk management and adherence to governance standards.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, client centricity, and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the bank in the market, building strategic networks and partnerships that attract and retain affluent clients.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A first degree in business commerce, finance, economics, or a related discipline is required. A postgraduate qualification is advantageous, and CISI certification is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in private banking and wealth management, with a proven track record of leading client acquisition, sales, service, and relationship management strategies for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients.
  • Demonstrated success in growing market share, expanding assets under management, and delivering sustainable revenue and profitability targets in a competitive financial services environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to interpret market trends, assess risks and opportunities, and make strategic decisions that balance client and business outcomes.
  • Deep knowledge of banking, wealth management, investment, lending, fiduciary, and advisory products, with the ability to structure tailored financial solutions.
  • Experience preparing and motivating complex credit applications, coupled with a solid understanding of credit risk management and governance.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, including developing high-performing teams, driving organisational change, and embedding a culture of client centricity and service excellence.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across functions and markets, and to build strategic partnerships at a senior level.
  • Strong understanding of industry trends, regulatory requirements, emerging technologies, and the evolving wealth management landscape, with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Comfortable operating at a senior leadership level in complex organisations, balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution.

Competencies that will set you apart: Success in this role also requires strong behavioural competencies—the ability to convince and direct people, develop expertise, interact effectively, and make sound decisions. Technical competencies include business and financial acumen, people strategy development, product knowledge, and risk management.
