Role Overview
This is a senior finance leadership role based in Kakamega, where you will take full ownership of the organisation’s financial health and strategic direction. Day to day, you will steer budgeting, forecasting, and reporting cycles, while also tightening internal controls and advising the board on capital and risk decisions. Your work directly shapes the institution’s stability and growth, ensuring every shilling is accounted for and deployed where it creates the most value.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the annual budgeting and rolling forecasting processes, translating business goals into clear financial targets and actionable plans.
- Design and enforce robust internal controls, fraud deterrents, and governance frameworks to safeguard assets and maintain regulatory confidence.
- Oversee end-to-end financial reporting, treasury operations, tax compliance, and statutory audits, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Analyse cost drivers and revenue streams to recommend practical measures that boost profitability and operational efficiency.
- Champion the adoption of financial systems, automation tools, and administrative workflows that reduce manual effort and improve data integrity.
- Lead, coach, and develop a motivated finance team, fostering technical excellence and a culture of accountability.
- Prepare board packs and executive summaries, delivering clear, evidence-based advice on investments, liquidity, and long-term financial strategy.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
- CPA(K) certification and active membership with ICPAK are mandatory.
- At least 8 years of progressive finance experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior leadership or head-of-finance capacity.
- Prior exposure to fintech, microfinance, banking, or lending operations is a strong advantage, particularly in regulated environments.
- Proven ability to think strategically, challenge assumptions, and solve complex financial problems under pressure.
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence both executive peers and board members.
- Willingness to relocate to and work from Kakamega on a full-time basis.

This role comes with a competitive gross monthly salary of between KSh 150,000 and KSh 250,000, based on your experience and qualifications.
