Primary Purpose

We are looking for a hands-on and disciplined Greenhouse Supervisor to lead our production activities in Naivasha. This role is a blend of technical crop management and rigorous personnel supervision. You will be responsible for the health of our horticultural products from husbandry to harvest, while ensuring a team of workers adheres to strict safety and operational standards. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can spot a technical malfunction or a pest infestation as quickly as they can resolve a labor dispute, ensuring the farm maintains peak productivity and quality.

Operational Mandate & Daily Scope

Crop Husbandry & Technical Oversight

• Execute and supervise essential crop care techniques including timely de-suckering, weeding, and general greenhouse sanitation.

• Conduct weekly scouting to identify and report on pests or diseases, providing detailed updates on overall crop health.

• Inspect greenhouse structures and systems regularly; report malfunctions in irrigation, spray lines, or structural damage like plastic tears immediately.

• Verify that harvesting standards are met, focusing on proper cut points and stages for flowers.

• Oversee post-harvest handling, ensuring buckets are clean, correctly treated with solution, and stems are properly submerged for transport to the cold store.

Workforce Coordination & Discipline

• Manage daily attendance records, muster rolls, and overtime logs with absolute accuracy, noting late arrivals or unauthorized absences.

• Enforce all farm policies and safety regulations without compromise, maintaining a disciplined and peaceful working environment.

• Lead the induction and hands-on training for new hires, covering both technical duties and essential health and safety protocols.

• Act as the primary bridge for worker grievances, escalating issues to management while resolving minor conflicts on the floor.

• Evaluate staff performance bi-weekly, submitting detailed sheets to guide personnel development and bonus allocations.

Safety, Health & Compliance

• Monitor and report any potential health hazards within the work environment, ensuring the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

• Manage chemical safety by strictly enforcing re-entry periods for greenhouses that have been sprayed.

• Respond immediately to workplace injuries by organizing first aid and submitting formal injury reports to the office within the same day.

Requirements & Competencies

Academic & Experience Profile

• Education: Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field of study.

• Professional History: Minimum of 3 years of experience managing greenhouse crops and leading large teams of casual laborers.

• Technical Savvy: Deep knowledge of greenhouse technology, including automated watering systems, temperature control, and fertilization techniques.

Critical Skills

• Leadership: Proven ability to manage a diverse workforce in a high-pressure agricultural setting.

• Attention to Detail: Meticulous in monitoring cut stages and plant health indicators.

• Reliability: A commitment to punctual attendance and the ability to work the 7:30 am – 4:30 pm schedule consistently.

• Instructional Ability: Skilled in exhaustively training new staff on safety and husbandry procedures.
