The General Manager will spearhead Kenyan operations for our client, acting as the strategic bridge between technical project execution and the firm’s financial objectives. This role is designed for a visionary leader capable of steering a multidisciplinary team to ensure that scientific and engineering solutions remain profitable and competitive within the East African market. You will be responsible for defining the strategic roadmap, optimizing operational efficiencies, and fostering a high-performance culture that balances technical innovation with robust commercial results.
Strategic Direction & Team Leadership
Lead and inspire departmental heads across Sales, Procurement, Finance, and Administration to achieve unified corporate objectives.
Define and execute the strategic plan for the Kenyan market, ensuring seamless alignment with regional and global corporate goals.
Promote a culture of accountability and innovation, ensuring operational excellence across all touchpoints of the business.
Mentor senior management and develop a strong leadership pipeline to support future organizational scaling.
Financial Stewardship & Operational Analysis
Formulate and manage the annual corporate budget, monitoring operational KPIs to track fiscal health.
Analyze complex financial and operational performance data to ensure technical projects meet set profitability margins.
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and resource optimization strategies without compromising on quality or regulatory compliance.
Oversee the integration of new technologies to enhance service delivery and internal productivity.
Governance, Risk & Stakeholder Relations
Ensure all organizational operations adhere to Kenyan legal, regulatory, and specific scientific industry standards.
Develop robust risk management strategies to safeguard company assets, reputation, and ongoing operations.
Maintain and grow high-level relationships with regulatory authorities, industry partners, and key stakeholders.
Represent the company in industry forums, government engagements, and high-stakes client negotiations.
Process Optimization & Cross-Functional Synergy
Identify operational bottlenecks and implement tailored solutions to streamline the supply chain and project delivery.
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between technical engineering teams and business-focused departments.
Monitor post-project performance to ensure long-term client satisfaction and repeat business.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
Leadership History: Proven experience in a senior leadership capacity within the Kenyan technical, manufacturing, or scientific sectors.
Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of financial management with the ability to translate technical outputs into business profitability.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to anticipate market shifts and pivot operations to maintain a competitive edge.
Operational Insight: Strong grasp of process improvement methodologies and technology-driven efficiency.
Interpersonal Influence: Exceptional communication skills for engaging with both technical staff and high-level government or corporate officials.
Integrity: High level of professional ethics and discipline in managing corporate governance.
Remuneration: A competitive salary range of Kshs. 80,000 – 120,000.
