Forklift Operator

Role Overview

As a Forklift Operator at Fargo, you will be the person keeping goods moving through our warehouse — operating forklifts, reach trucks and other material handling equipment to load, offload, stack and retrieve consignments so that deliveries and collections happen on schedule. The role sits at the centre of our day-to-day operations: when equipment is available, well maintained and handled safely, our customers get their freight on time and our teams work without avoidable risk. You will also be accountable for the condition of the machines you use, carrying out inspections, coordinating servicing and keeping the paperwork that proves it all happened.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts, reach trucks and other material handling equipment safely and competently within warehouse and yard areas.
• Load, offload, move, stack and retrieve materials accurately, taking care to prevent damage to goods, racking and equipment.
• Complete daily pre-operation checks on assigned equipment and report any defect, fault or malfunction promptly so it can be rectified.
• Coordinate timely servicing, maintenance and refuelling of material handling equipment, keeping accurate records for each machine.
• Follow Occupational Health & Safety standards, company SOPs, site traffic rules and PPE requirements at all times.
• Keep material handling flowing so that warehouse activity and equipment availability support scheduled deliveries and collections.
• Maintain good housekeeping and 5S standards in your work area, and protect company assets from misuse or damage.
• Prepare and submit accurate reports covering inspections, servicing, fuel consumption and any incidents.
• Handle company and client information with confidentiality and comply with the Data Protection Policy.

Requirements & Qualifications

• KCSE (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education) certificate or equivalent high school qualification.
• Valid driving licence.
• A minimum of five years' experience driving heavy commercial vehicles.
• Demonstrated ability to operate forklifts, reach trucks and similar material handling equipment safely in a busy warehouse environment.
• Working knowledge of occupational health and safety practice, PPE use and safe load handling.
• Careful record-keeping habits and the ability to produce clear, accurate inspection and consumption reports.
• Reliable, safety-conscious and comfortable working to tight operational schedules.
