Role Overview
This role is the engine behind everything a Nairobi burger brand puts into the feed — the short-form video shot in the middle of a busy service, the caption that sounds like the city actually talks, and the campaign that turns a new menu item into a conversation people join. Day to day it means moving between planning, shooting, editing, publishing, and reading the numbers, with very little lag between an idea and it going live. It matters because the brand's growth depends on showing up consistently with content people choose to share, not just content that gets posted.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the social calendar end to end: plan, schedule, publish, and iterate across Instagram, TikTok, X, and any platform where the audience is actually spending time.
- Shoot and edit short-form video on location — behind the counter, in the kitchen, on the street — turning everyday service moments into scroll-stopping clips.
- Write captions, hooks, on-screen text, and scripts that tap into current Nairobi slang, humour, and cultural moments without sounding borrowed or forced.
- Concept and run campaigns around product launches, limited drops, promos, and collaborations, covering the brief, timeline, deliverables, and a post-campaign review of what worked.
- Run community management: respond to comments and DMs in the brand's voice, surface customer feedback and complaints early, and flag trends worth jumping on.
- Brief and coordinate photographers, videographers, designers, food creators, and influencers when a production needs more hands than one person can hold.
- Track and report on reach, saves, shares, engagement rate, follower growth, and where possible order or footfall attribution — then adjust the content mix based on what the data says.
- Maintain a shoot schedule and content bank so the brand never goes quiet, including during peak trading periods.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 3+ years working in social media management, content creation, or brand marketing, ideally within food, hospitality, retail, or consumer lifestyle brands.
- A portfolio of short-form video work with real performance numbers behind it — not just a grid of good-looking posts.
- Confident capturing content on a phone and/or mirrorless camera, with strong editing skills in CapCut, Premiere Pro, or comparable tools.
- Strong written English plus a natural feel for Swahili and Sheng registers in copy and dialogue.
- Practical familiarity with Meta Business Suite, TikTok analytics, scheduling platforms, and basic performance reporting.
- Comfortable working on site in a fast-moving food environment, including some evenings and weekends around peak service.
- Diploma or degree in marketing, communications, journalism, media production, or design — or equivalent demonstrated experience in place of formal study.
- Based in, or able to work from, Nairobi.
Why Join
- Take ownership of social, content production, and campaigns for a Nairobi burger brand that already carries serious viral momentum.
- Build a brand presence from zero to unavoidable — the audience, the voice, and the content engine are yours to shape.
- Work where food, culture, and internet speed meet, with the freedom to test ideas quickly and see the results in real time.
