Fleet Manager

Role Overview

Akuka Cabs, part of Trinova Technologies Limited, is looking for a Fleet Manager to run the commercial and operational performance of its passenger vehicle fleet in Nairobi. Each vehicle is treated as a standalone business unit, so the person in this seat owns driver recruitment and retention, keeps remittances arriving on schedule, and makes sure cars spend their time earning on the road rather than sitting in a garage. The role exists because fleet uptime and disciplined revenue collection are what turn vehicles into reliable income for the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Source, screen, onboard and allocate drivers to fleet vehicles, setting clear expectations around earnings targets, conduct and fleet policy from the first day.
• Monitor daily and weekly driver remittances, following up persistently and professionally on late payments, arrears and any outstanding financial obligations.
• Resolve driver escalations and field disputes, enforce policy compliance, and reassign or replace drivers whose performance or behaviour falls short.
• Build and run preventive servicing schedules and vehicle inspections so that maintenance issues are caught early and downtime is kept to a minimum.
• Manage relationships with partner garages, mechanics and other service providers, keeping repair costs controlled and turnaround times short.
• Coordinate accident response, vehicle recovery, insurance claims processing and the installation or troubleshooting of tracking systems.
• Keep vehicle and driver documentation current, including speed governors, inspection certificates, PSV licences and insurance policies.
• Record fleet revenue, operating expenses, maintenance history and fuel usage in the fleet management system, and compile regular performance reports covering asset profitability, maintenance costs and collection efficiency for leadership.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fleet Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration or a related field.
• At least 2 years of progressive experience managing commercial vehicles, ride-hailing or taxi fleets, or field logistics teams.
• Practical understanding of basic automotive mechanics, preventive maintenance procedures and how garage workflows operate.
• Comfort using GPS tracking platforms, fleet management software and digital reporting tools.
• Assertiveness and persistence in chasing payments and operational directives, delivered in a firm but professional manner.
• Strong negotiation, problem-solving and cost-control abilities, paired with high ethical integrity.
• Available to work on-site in Nairobi on a full-time basis.

What We Offer / Why Join

• Monthly salary of KSh 15,000 – KSh 30,000, plus a performance commission.
• Full-time, on-site position with regular hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
