Job Description

Role Overview

This position keeps a healthcare facility running smoothly on a daily basis, making sure that everything from patient intake to clinical care and administrative tasks happens safely, efficiently, and on time. The person in this role coordinates between clinical teams, front-line staff, and upper management to guarantee that care delivery meets quality standards while the facility stays operationally sound and legally compliant. By taking charge of resource allocation, staff performance, and process improvement, this role directly impacts patient outcomes and the overall success of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day functioning of all departments, ensuring that both routine and urgent healthcare needs are met without unnecessary delays.
  • Implement and review operational procedures that improve patient flow, customer satisfaction, and the overall quality of clinical and non-clinical services.
  • Monitor the facility’s ongoing compliance with national healthcare laws, ethical frameworks, and accreditation standards, promptly addressing any gaps.
  • Work with finance teams to prepare budgets, track expenses, and identify areas for cost containment while maintaining service excellence.
  • Lead, coach, and supervise staff from different backgrounds, including handling scheduling, training, and performance management.
  • Use data from Health Management Information Systems to identify bottlenecks, spot trends, and support data-driven decisions.
  • Represent the facility in interactions with patients and visitors, and escalate concerns to senior leadership when appropriate.
  • Coordinate responses to emergencies or operational crises, ensuring a clear, organised approach that protects patients and staff.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, business administration, public health, nursing, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least three years of direct work experience in an operations management role within a healthcare or clinical environment.
  • Strong computer literacy, especially with healthcare information systems, electronic medical records, or other management platforms.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate multi-disciplinary teams and drive accountability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients, clinical personnel, and executive leadership.
  • Analytical problem-solving ability to assess complex situations, weigh risks, and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Practical understanding of financial management, including budgeting, basic cost analysis, and resource planning.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, patient privacy laws, and professional ethical standards.
  • Proven crisis management and conflict resolution capabilities, remaining composed during emergencies.
