Role Overview
This is a field-based sales position within a distributor operation, where you will own a defined route of retail outlets and be the face of the business to shop owners, kiosks and stockists. Day to day you will combine planned route calls, stock replenishment and payment collection with active prospecting to bring new outlets and newly introduced brands into the market. The role matters because the distributor's volume growth depends directly on consistent coverage, reliable delivery frequency and products actually being available on shelf — all of which rest on how well you run your territory.
Key Responsibilities
- Work a planned daily route across assigned outlets, meeting coverage, call frequency and drop size (volume sales) expectations.
- Prospect for new business and open new accounts, then secure listings for new brands as they are introduced to the market.
- Keep all products and brands available in every outlet in your territory, checking stock levels and pushing replenishment before shelves run dry.
- Reconcile physical stock against recorded sales at the end of each working day and account for any variances.
- Serve retail customers promptly and professionally, handling queries, escalations and day-to-day complaints on the spot.
- Gather market intelligence on competitor activity, pricing and demand patterns, and report it back to the business.
- Collect payments from outlets and complete accurate, precise cashless transactions for every sale.
- Maintain the assigned tool of work — vehicle, motorcycle or sales kit — in good, roadworthy and presentable condition.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Sales and Marketing, or an equivalent qualification in a related field.
- KCSE mean grade D+ and above, with at least a D+ in Mathematics and English.
- Basic computer literacy, including working use of MS Office.
- At least 2 years of relevant sales experience in the FMCG industry.
- Valid driving licence class C and a motorcycle riding licence class A — the motorcycle riding licence is a must.
- An up-to-date Certificate of Good Conduct.
- Self-disciplined and well organised, with solid numeracy skills.
- Proactive, flexible and resilient, and able to work as part of a team.
- High level of integrity and personal responsibility, especially in handling stock and cash.
What We Offer / Why Join
- Gross salary of 27,000–30,000.
- Immediate start available for candidates with a short or no notice period.
- A hands-on field sales role in the FMCG sector, with direct ownership of your own route and territory.
