Role Overview
This position sits at the centre of how a university tells its story visually — from the lecture hall and the research lab to graduation ceremonies, conferences, and flagship institutional campaigns. Working within the communications team, the post-holder takes an idea from first concept through shooting, editing, and final delivery, producing footage that serves marketing, branding, academic, and corporate audiences across multiple channels. The work directly shapes how prospective students, partners, and the wider public perceive the institution, so craft, consistency, and deadlines all matter equally.
Key Responsibilities
- Conceptualise, plan, shoot, and deliver video content that supports the university's communication, marketing, branding, academic, corporate, and digital media priorities.
- Provide professional videography coverage at institutional events and activities, including conferences, ceremonies, programmes, projects, and other engagements.
- Prepare full pre-production packages — storyboards, scripts, shot lists, production schedules, and logistical arrangements — before cameras roll.
- Carry out post-production work such as editing, colour correction, sound mixing, motion graphics, animation, subtitling, and transitions to a broadcast-quality standard.
- Create finished video assets for the website, social media channels, digital campaigns, promotional materials, documentaries, and advertisements.
- Work alongside the University Webmaster to optimise and publish multimedia content that performs well on the institution's digital platforms.
- Handle recording, live streaming, and rapid-turnaround editing for events where content must be published promptly.
- Stay current with emerging tools, formats, and platform trends in videography, editing, and social content, and apply them to ongoing output.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Film and Video Production, Film Production, Journalism, Mass Communication, Multimedia, Digital Media, Communication, or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution.
- A minimum of three years' professional experience in videography, film production, digital media, multimedia production, content creation, or a comparable field.
- A portfolio or showreel submitted with the application, demonstrating competence across both short-form and long-form professional video work.
- Strong cinematography and camera skills — confident operation of professional equipment, plus solid command of composition, lighting, and visual storytelling.
- Advanced video editing and post-production ability.
- Good graphic design skills, with the capacity to produce digital artwork for websites, social media, events, and institutional campaigns.
- Experience in a university, media organisation, corporate communications team, advertising or creative agency, or similar institutional environment is an advantage.
- Professional certification or further training in videography, cinematography, digital media, graphic design, or animation is an advantage.
- Must be a born again Christian and an active member of a local church.
