Demand Planning Officer

Role Overview

This position keeps the flow of materials and components aligned with production, project, and supply chain needs. Working across forecasting, replenishment, purchase order administration, and supplier follow-up, the job holder helps the business avoid shortages, excess stock, and avoidable operational delays. The role is central to maintaining dependable material availability, accurate supply chain data, and responsive supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Raise and manage purchase orders for materials and components, tracking each order from confirmation through delivery and closure.
• Act as a day-to-day contact for suppliers, chasing delivery commitments, clarifying order changes, and resolving mismatches promptly.
• Review stock positions and initiate replenishment before shortages, overstock, or planning disruptions occur.
• Keep purchase order records, delivery updates, supplier correspondence, and material issue logs accurate, current, and easy to audit while ensuring procurement activity follows company policies and approval procedures.
• Confirm that incoming materials and components meet approved specifications, quality expectations, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Maintain the integrated supply chain system with correct item details, quantities, pricing, and delivery dates.
• Investigate discrepancies such as wrong items, late deliveries, quantity variances, and quality concerns, driving each case to resolution.
• Analyse sales trends, demand patterns, and market stock availability to strengthen forecasts, inventory plans, safety stock settings, and replenishment or dispatch decisions.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: A recognised degree in Statistics, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related field.
• Experience: At least one year in a role focused on demand forecasting, inventory planning, replenishment, procurement coordination, or broader supply chain operations.
• Working knowledge of inventory management practices, demand planning, and replenishment processes.
• Comfort using integrated supply chain or ERP systems, with a strong focus on accurate data entry and system hygiene.
• Analytical ability to interpret sales trends, stock data, and planning variables.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
• Clear, confident communication with internal teams and external suppliers, including effective stakeholder management.
• Organised and detail-focused, with the ability to handle competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
• A practical problem-solver who keeps chasing issues until they are fully resolved.
