Role Overview
This position reports to the Analytics Manager and operates as the business’s dedicated data analytics specialist. On a day-to-day basis, the role gathers and reconciles information from multiple systems, interrogates it for meaningful patterns, and turns those findings into practical guidance for department heads and other decision-makers. The work is central to helping the organisation act on evidence rather than assumption, while keeping data accurate, compliant, and useful for both routine reporting and larger change initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine operational and commercial data sets to produce clear, decision-ready insights that support departmental goals and wider business planning.
- Detect, interpret, and explain trends, anomalies, and relationships within large or complicated data, translating them into recommended actions.
- Review system records for accuracy, regulatory compliance, and duplicate entries, resolving or escalating issues through agreed channels.
- Partner with business analysts to spot manual or repetitive processes that can be automated, improving how data is managed and reported now and in future.
- Contribute to a culture of ongoing improvement by refining team methods, strengthening delivery reliability, and keeping personal competency assessments and development plans up to date.
- Follow all internal policies, procedures, and statutory requirements without exception, keeping data handling and reporting within governance boundaries.
- Take part in project delivery by confirming scope, meeting deadlines, and producing outputs that match service specifications.
- Close audit issues within the quarter they are identified or sooner if a shorter deadline is agreed, while sustaining strong stakeholder communication so concerns are addressed and expectations are met.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, computer science, information management, or a closely related discipline.
- At least three years of hands-on data-related business experience in a busy commercial setting, with a demonstrated record of understanding business needs and extracting those needs from analysis or raw information.
- Strong SQL skills and practical experience with at least one other major database platform, such as DB2, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
- Proficiency in Excel and statistical methods; Python is a plus.
- Power BI experience is strongly preferred.
- An IT management certification, such as ITIL, would be advantageous.
- Ability to think creatively, work with drive, and manage yourself in a fast-moving environment.
- Strategic mindset with the capacity to examine complex issues, build appropriate action plans, and see them through to results.
- Skill in bringing together and analysing varied data and information, then developing and recommending strategies based on what the data shows.
